“Nothing, not even mountains or oceans, can separate people with shared mind though they are thousands of miles apart”. Located in Malaysia’s Pahang state, Bentong town is known as the “hometown of durians”. Here, there are 15 Chinese new villages, with a total population of more than 20,000 people. Of these new villages, Kampung Perting has the largest number of Chinese with Guangxi origin, home to over 6,000 people from more than 600 households at its height, and hence the largest “Guangxi village” in the whole of Malaysia. To this day, although the overseas Chinese here were born and bred in Malaysia, but deep in their hearts, there is an inalienable “affinity with China”.
